The only complaint in in a long motoring situation the internal gas tank will only last about 1.24 hrs. Refilling it is a pain. In really big waves and head winds the 3.5 would be more usefull. The M15 does not sail as well with a lot of weight aft. In general I would stay with the 2 hp range or a 2 cycle in a higher hp as long as it was light. I overnighted last weekend and had frost on the cockpit cushions in the AM. In larger waves the dory would serf faster than I could sail and rammed my transom a couple of times. I let out more line and it almost broached. Too much worry. I bought one of the Stearns inflateable kayacks after a posting from CA on the list. It works great and paddles far better than I ever would have thought. A good foot pump has it ready to go in about 5 minutes. Mine is an older version 10 footer at 35 lbs. The new ones are 8 footers at 28 lbs. A nice package.
