Lucky lad.
I appear to be just the opposite of Larry. I rarely
ever work on my M15, I just use it. But take your
boating pleasure anyway you like it.
This past weekend I launched on Friday about noon at
the Wye river on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake
Bay. Almost no wind but very nice fall colors so I
motored to the northen most part of the island
watching the herons, eagles, geese, puddle ducks,
diving ducks and loons.
Motored 2 hrs south to raft up with some local friends
in a 32, 34 and 45 footer - and partied late into the
night.
John Harris of CLC (Chesapeake Light Craft)was kind
enough to row by in the AM and say hi. John is a
former M15 owner.
Saturday I had an absolutely fabulous sail in crystal
clear skies, 65 deg temps with winds starting at 18
kts dropping to 14 and then back up to 18 kts. I made
an 8 mile downwind run back to the Wye river and was
never less 4.2 kts - I LOVE IT.
The weekend before 3 M15's went overnight with hight
temps of 50 deg, low temps of about 29. We confirmed
that Butane stoves do not work well below 40 deg.
Luckily I brought along a Colman camp stove and had a
nice hot breakfast.
The winds on Saturday started out at about 5 kts and
dropped to 0 by 3pm. Sunday started at 0 and picked
up to 5 kts by 11 AM and had a very pleasant sail
making 1.5 to 3 kts for about 10 miles. I LOVED THAT
TO!
Bottom line is take your pleasure where you find it!
I find mine on the water and yes my boat looks like
it.
