On the subject of whipping, I always have trouble inserting the needle
through the area near the end of the rope where it was cut with a hot knife.
This spot tends to be hard and the closer you get to the cut the harder it
is to pass the needle through. I saw on the Grog site that he whips the
line and then trims it down to the whipping with a hot knife. A simple
solution to my problem, but for twenty years I haven't thought of it.

It is not as detailed as Grog's site, but useful. There are many different
ways to tie knots and I always seem to learn something from a specific
approach.

A sailing friend sent it to me -I just used it today to check on
'whipping'
methods rather than do my own "invented" version - you know the one you
figger out on yer own -sometimes works - mine usually doesn't!
