John: In one of the issues of the old Montgomery Newsletter is a "how to" article on installing a small Garelick fold down transom ladder, complete with clever instructions on how to install a plywood backing. I tried it and it works great. Recently, I purchased a new model and added two more steps, Now I have a four step transom ladder and it really works well.
