John -

Because the 15 uses the rope traveler (not sure what the technical name for
this kind of traveler is), the item they are discussing will not be applicable.
And unless you install a track type traveler in the cockpit (as one boat did -
and I think he eventually removed this mod) you won't have the capability.

Speaking of main-sheets (sort of), my bone of contention with the 15's set up
is having the lead operate directly in front of the companion way. It's
problematic for the crew as you tend to cut their knee's when operating the
main-sheet. I had looked at several options for re-rigging the main-sheet up to
and including the way the WWP19 is set up. Note I said 19'... But the issue
that might come into play with the 19's set up on a little Montgomery 15, is
that the weather side of the sheet arrangement would tend to cut someones head
off as it passes over the cockpit on its way to the boom.

I eventually decided that a block and becket at the traveler end would be
sufficient but I'd be sure to use the particular Harken model line which is
made of all nylon I think. Some sort of strong plastic. That way it's less
likely to damage the gel-coat in the cockpit when going slack such as in an
accidental jibe, etc.

In any event I am pondering selling my 15' due to size constraint with my
growing family although I must say, it's the second time I've attempted to do
it and it's the second time I am already again apprehensive to sell her.
Although I think a 17' is a better boat for us I can't get over how handy the
15 is and I can't convince myself to sell the 15'. I still may make the
main-sheet conversion after all.

Anyone else make any modifications to the main-sheet arrangement which work
better than original set up?

Two questions: (1) would it be appropriate for an M15? (2) where
would I go to buy one?
