Larry,Randy and Ashley

Thank you for your quick response! I'm sure there are plenty of great M15's that have the metal keels with no issues as most M15's I imagine are on their trailers more than in the water. but... If I can have one with Lead why not. (Thanks Larry for the earlier information).

This is a great group of people on this board. Like minds... Like Monty's!

Have a good rest of the week!

Quoting RandyG <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Christian,

Best I understand, it was in 1988 that all Monty's began being built
using lead ballast in the keel. I believe it was early 1988 for the M15
and mid-1988 for the M17.
The M15 and newer M17 centerboards are also lead ballasted. The M17's
started using the same centerboard as the M15's in early 1988. With the
M15 I believe the centerboards became lead ballasted before the keel,
but not sure how much before.

Our M17 was built during this transition. She was built in Jan. of 1988
and has the newer lead centerboard, but the older punching ballast

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
