Hi John, What's the problem using the stem fitting on the M15 as your winch hook attachment point?
If your trailer winch is located too low, a quick trip to a local trailer shop will take care of that. They can add a foot or more to the winch post, and that will provide you with a horizontal pull. I had a Trailrite trailer for my M15 - LEPPO, and never had a problem using the stem head fitting for the winch hook.
