I have experienced both the problems you talked about.
In regards to the centerboard pin, mine vibrated almost out from the tires on
the trailer being non radials. When I discovered the pin nearly out, I
consulted Bob Eeg and he recommended using 3M 5200 and tapping the pin in til
it was flush and applying the 5200 to both sides. I did this and have since
changed the tires to radials, have driven over 2000 miles cross country and to
several isolated areas on very rough roads and have not experienced the problem
again. I also make a point of checking the pin prior to each sail and again
after.
I have a Honda 2 HP 4 stroke engine and found first off that I placed it down
in the truck bed wrong side up and lost a great deal of oil. Then, I found
that I over filled it. This motor does not use very much oil. And it takes
very little to reach the little fill line. I had it serviced last Spring and
was informed that I had overfilled it. Since then, I have not had a problem
with smoking or with starting and I have not had to add any oil.
Time for a cool change!
