Jim, I have an early model M-17 (1979) with a stuck c-board which I
will be working on in a couple of weeks as soon as I can get my cradle
built. Do you have any idea how to determine the material used for
ballast (lead or iron) without removing the floor and digging it out?
I would agree that not having the c-board will certainly reduce your
windward abilities but the boat will still handle quite nicely with
the board up (ie stuck). Regards...Arnold

I discovered the steel punching are rusted at the top. It looks
like water
entered from above probably the interior of the cabin.
Interesting is the vein of fiberglass that runs horizontally though
the
punchings.
Any ideas about what this vein is for?
This repair isn't very fun. I would rather be pushing to weather in a
parting sea!
