Jiffy reefing is overkill to me for small boats because small sails are easy to control without block and tackle help...simple is better to me but big boat sails are a different story. I guess there are different preferences on how to reef with slugs but there is no need to remove the slug stop or let slugs drop out for reefing. They stay in the slot and let the sail flake down around them. The tack is hooked as usual and the flaked sail poses no clearance or handling issues. The usual set up for slugs is boom below a slot.
