I don't know about cost or where to find a bow pulpit, but I think the bow pulpit is well worth it.? If you ever have to go forward during a serious blow..........it's nice to have something to hold onto.? I don't have a stern pulpit and I'm not sure of it's value.? I feel pretty safe in the cockpit.? Also, I would think it might get in the way of motoring and getting back onto the boat after an afternoon swim.? Just me .02 cents worth.
