Chad,
I'd do a lot more looking before I'd do any cutting. Connie had a leak in
his M15 that he couldn't locate. I think, on the advice of Jerry he put
water in the boat, while on the trailer and found the leak. If he's out
there I'm sure he would give a much more colorful explanation.
Once I was in the cockpit of an M17 with four other guys and it took on
water into the cockpit and cabin through the scupper.
How about calling the PO? If he drilled holes he must know something.
When you find the leak, it will probably turn out to be something simple
that doesn't warrant doing any cutting. Let us know what it turns out to
be.

Hello all,
I am looking for some advice, the previous owner of the new to me
boat had added 2 holes in the hull liner on either side of the
centerboard trunk in the cabin. When we took the boat out for the
first time a couple of weeks ago I could see water in between the
hull and the hull liner. I had a leaking though hull as well at that
time and figured that was the source of my leak. Well the through
hull has been taken care of, but I still have water getting into the
boat. I presume it has something to do with the centerboard trunk.
My number one rule in boating is "keep the water out" so I need to
get this fixed. Does anyone have any advice as to what my first step
should be? I was thinking of dropping the board and trying to see
up into the centerboard trunk to see if I could see what the problem
may be, or am I just better off cutting the centerboard trunk out
from inside the cabin and inspecting things that way? I can take
pictures later on this evening if that would help. Thanks for any
help or advice that you may have.
Regards,
Chad
