I just measured my M15 #`310 - 30 inches from the wood cover to the 1/4 lip on
the edge of the cabin opening.
I am 5' 8" tall and I cruise my 15 up to two weeks at a time. I live quite
comfortably on board for 1 week but by the end of the second week I am thinking
M17. So far I have not been seriously tempted and have owned and cruised it
for 10 years.
The M17, with the masthead rig and the deep rudder is the better sailor of the
two . Whenever I get a ride in the M17 it feels much more like a big keel boat
while the M15 reacts more like a dingy with a keel.
Like the individual who sails SF Bay in his M15 in 25 kts I also find the M15
quite up to those winds with a double reefed main and a storm jib.
The M15 is comfortable day sailing with two, three is pushing it while the M17
can handle 4 very comfortably but water will start coming in the scuppers with
5 or more.

the portable head locker cabin sole to interior roof for the M15? Wondering if
a West Marine "Go Anywhere Seat" could be used in the head locker sans

& Duff's Stonehorse Cutter
The "Go Anywhere Seat" also works well in the cockpit. I have used them in
my previous sailboats. In fact, coupled with a folding chair as a cushion,
they can be very comfortable.
I'm still trying to decide on M15 or M17, new vs. used. I like the interior
and cockpit size of the M17, and I remember that some of my most memorable
sailing was been in small boats, particularly my CD Typhoon and the family
canoe I learned to sail in a few (actually 50 +/-) years ago. I enjoy
thin-water sailing and feel like I might actually use the M15 more. Plan on
doing a lot of singlehanded sailing, most day, but also hope to trailer sail
around the US.
Appreciate any info you can share.
Thanks,
Mark
