Kendal, Expanding foam and boats are a bad combination. The foam does not seal well enough to prevent moisture from seeping underneath it.
Then you get all of the nasty things associated with trapped stagnant water - mildew, bugs, water absorption in the glass..... It is very difficult to remove as well. I participate in several wooden boat forums and those who have tried it, regret it. As to the motor mount, I cannot answer your question but I do know that I am happy with the fixed glass mount in my M15. The retractable mounts are nice but not enough of an advantage to replace some thing that is simple with no moving parts. Or does someone VERY skinny have to get under the cabin and remove and reattach the nuts?
