I found this line of site distance calulator:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/distanceresult.html?p1=770&p2=280

Straight line, no tacking allowed...

Vanuatu is an island nation (capital: Port Vila) west of Fiji and south of the
Solomons, on the eastern limits of the Coral Sea, about 1/3 the way from Fiji
to Australia.? One of those boring places with coral reefs, turquoise waters,
and rainforests.? Sticking around for 3 weeks will probably be miserable.

I received this email last night from Eva, Wilhelms sister: Wilhelm is on June
1th landed in Port Vila, Vanuatu, Melanesia and he
feels good and he will stay there for 3 week because the weather is to bad to
go in the Indian
Ocean.

Hi Charlie,

You won't be disappointed, I sailed a Ranger 23 for a number of
years, then decided to get a trailer sailor. We found an older Compac
16 that needed work, fixed it up over the winter and then sailed it
the next summer. Even with new sails we just were not thrilled with
its performance so we sold it. This past fall we bought a Monty 17
and the difference is like night and day when comparing it to the
Compac. I had one of the older Compacs that did not have a center
board or bowsprit, both of which I think would have made a difference
in performance.

Regards,

Chad

Hi Charlie,

We have a brand new resource at our disposal. Sean Mulligan has set up an
owners registry at YaHoo groups. You'll need to become a member of the group
(set up password and user name). The list is yet new but may have a listing
in your area. Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Montyowners/

Other sources of information:
www.MSOG.org
www.MSOGPhotoSite.com

Have fun,
Bill

Hi,

I have been sailing a Com-Pac 16 for 5 years, and have become disappointed with
its performance (especially upwind). The Montgomery 15 or 17 seems like it may
be a better choice.

Before I decide to purchase one, I would like to know if there is anyone in the
New England/New York area that has one that I could take a look at.

Thanks

Charlie
