I want to attach a preventer to the boom on my M17. I am curious how the mainsheet bracket is attached to the boom, and where a similar bracket could be obtained for the preventer attachment. The mainsheet bracket looks to be fastened to the boom with 4 screws...are these backed on the inside with nuts, or is the boom tapped, or ? I was thinking of taking one of the endcaps off and shining a light in there to see, but figured I might get a better/faster answer here. The boom was built in 2005 or so if that helps. I really think it must use sheet metal type screws or the wall thickness of the boom is thick enough to allow tapping. I can't see how one could get a tool inside the boom that far from the end...
