Danielle,
I will second the advice about Sailrite. I have the sailrite LSZ1 zig zag
machine, several sets of grommit setters and, other riggers tools from
Sailrite. They offer some great instructional videos on how to do sail work
and various types of boat canvas. I have repaired sails, added reef points
and slugs, made dodgers, awnings, upholstry, sailbags and made a 150% Genny and
storm jib for my old Slipper 17 all using their instructions and materials.
They are also a reasonably priced source for boat canvas and sail fabrics. I
sure am glad my Mommy taught me to sew when I was a kid.
