Hey Bill,
I launch at the ramp in Marina Del Rey
It has six lanes, not where you want to be on a weekend, but week days there's
almost nobody there.
It cost $7 bucks if you are towing a boat, $5 bucks for general parking.
It's located on the corner of Fiji and Admiralty ways.
I try and launch there at least once a week, even if I only sail in the harbor,
a little sailing is better than no sailing at all.
You might also try Lake Casitas or Lake Cachuma, closer to you. I read an
article some years back about some 505 collegiate nationals that took place on
Cachuma. so Im thinking it must get a little wind around there.
I spent some time at that lake in my youth, I used to live near Solvang..
The only drawback is that Cachuma and Casitas are reservoirs, and the water
levels can get pretty low when we are enduring periods of drought, as we are
now.
I've thought about towing Amy up to Cahuma for a weekend of Camp Sailing, it
sounds like it could be fun.

Bill:
We launched at Long Beach Marina, Alamitos Bay. There's a big launch
ramp (I think it's Davies Launch Ramp) just north of the bridge that
is just north of that marina. You pay to get in and park there.

We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails.
Sailing is like "African Queening" thru life.
