OK, I gotta chime in here. If you guys really want to go to the Apostles, or
wherever, consider the difference between what it would have cost last year and
what it would cost this year. If you are looking for ways to rationalize the
trip, fine, but if you just look at the difference and then apply your
government refund check,?it will be a wash. The event will be worth it.

We are?just finishing?Month 2 of a 4 month RV trip, which would be difficult to
rationalize if we just looked at this year's cost. BUT, by figuring we were
going to do it anyway, and just apply the speed bump of the difference in this
year's cost over what it would have cost last year, then it's not all that
bad.?This is our eighth summer on the road and if I had to stay home and listen
to myself whine about it, I might as well dig a hole and jump in.
?
Stay away from Starbucks for a month, use your Costco American Express Card
(get back 3%), use your digital camera (free pictures) and GO.....?

Just a note- I think it's really great what you guys are doing with cruises
like this. Makes me want to get a sailboat! I have very fond memories of
the several Mexico cruises I have done, mostly with friends from Tucson who
spend half their lives down there. Great times, ate lotsa fish!

Really too bad about gas prices; I just cancelled out on a trip to the
boundary Waters Canoe Area in late Sept with my dream girl- it would cost
nearly a thousand dollars just for gas, but all other expenses are almost
nothing. Something wrong here.

Have a great time, and you'll remember these times for the rest of your
lives!

a bit far from Huntsville, Texas. I can barely imagine towing my fin keel
M17, Griselda, that far behind my compact SUV with the hard dinghy on the
roof rack. Let's see, 3200 miles round trip at 19 MPG....... would be about
$800 in Gas.

with "Thumbelina" (a 9 ft Fatty Knees dinghy) on the roof rack home from
West Texas with a head wind. The combination of the 3.4 liter vortec V6 and
5 speed automatic in my Pontiac Torrent (Chevy Equinox twin) is a good
combination for the load. The tranmission would shift down to 4th only on
long grades and maintained 65 mph even against a strong headwind. With 26
mpg normal highway milage, I think it is a keeper.

been overboard in Mass. Bay in March so, I have a recommendation to make for
participants. Make sure you WEAR a PFD with safety harness and line! Also
make sure the attachment point on your boat is strong enough to handle the
shock load when
the slack comes out of the line. Then, be sure there is a
way to get back aboard. Practice your MOB drills, be safe and have fun.
