I have replaced battens on several boats over the years.  I usually measure the 
width of the batten and buy the appropriate plastic or fiberglass batten stock. 
 I then cut the battens to length with a hacksaw and dress the ends with a 
drimmel tool.  Most sailboat shops carry the batten stock in long pieces.
