Bill...

You have done a fabulous job on the photo web site! I understand the change
in circumstances for you and honor the time you have contributed in this
endeavor which has clearly helped so many of us.

I too am willing to donate money to try to keep this information available
to all. However, I am wondering if there might be another solution as well?
Not being much of a technofile (don't even know if that is a word...but you
all get the point), I am wondering if the photos might be transferred to the
Yahoo Groups that we already have in place for our owners database? I know
other Yahoo groups that I belong to have photo file sections, and also data
base sections for users to upload technical data, brochure copies...etc.

Could this be possible? It would be a shame to lose the information and
images that have been gathered, and like Andrei has previously posted, I am
sure few of us have the ability nor the time to upload all the photos.
However, as I said, I am more than willing to contribute to the funding of a
solution.

Many thanks, Bill for your tireless and clearly unheralded efforts!

Best,
JB

Hello all,

is there any way we could somehow save the data of the site in some sort of
archive? It will take me too long to download the whole site one photo at a
time, but if I got the whole archive I might be able to put it up somewhere
on my own web site, so that it is not entirely lost.

Andrei.

 Bill,
What is the financial burden to maintain the site?I'd like to see it stay
active.
Any way that is possible?

Ron,

This past summer I used VS721 on the bottom on our M17. The boat was in a
fresh water slip from May - Sept. We live in the Northern part of Idaho and
our water temp is typically in the 50's for most of the summer, mid-60's for
July and August. In prior years I did not put anything on the bottom for
antifouling protection. Overall I was pleased with the results of VS721. I
didn't stop bottom growth from happening (I do think it slowed it down) but
it certainly made cleaning the bottom much easier as the end of the season.

A little bit of VS721 goes a long ways. A 16oz bottle is enough for 4
applications below the water line.

I'll be slipping my clean bottomed M-15 for some of next season on the
improved but not pristine Saginaw River, near the mouth of the Saginaw Bay.
That's
Lake Huron to non-Great Lakes folks.
My boat has no bottom paint, and I'm willing to expend some effort to keep
it
that way. If only to preserve my options for a while.
. Something should be better than nothing. The supplier ads make it sound
like they're made with hi-tech chemicals, but I'm forming the opinion they
are
pretty much just thick Canadian approved wax .
Having studied up a bit, mostly at TrailerSailor, I find mixed reviews
leading me to hold hopeful, but still somewhat minimal expectations of
these two
products:
Aurora VS721 Bottom Coat, and Easy On Bottom Wax.

Does anyone have fresh water experience with, or preference for, either of
these products, or an alternative they'd like to share? I'm currently
inclined
to try the VS721, and have located a nearby dealer. It seems West may have
Easy On.

I'm following the awning/boom tent discussions, and plan to deploy something
come spring.

Finally, a thank you to Bill for his efforts!

Randy;
Thanks! That's the first-hand report I'd hoped to receive!
I expect our river is warmer, and gunkier, but it's worth a try.

Hi,

The cost to keep it published for the next 12 months will run right at
$360.00.
There would be no "what's new", "Donations" "Contact me" or "links" page.

With my new project I'll have limited Internet use (E-mail) for the next
year or maybe more.
This means I wont be able to fix links. In addition; The site photo limit
has been reached.
In order to continue with more photos I would have to turn all of the
Maintenance pages
into PDF files. Or, open a sub-site (more money) linked from the current
site. Either way,
it's not doable.

The site would remain pretty much as it is.

Other ideas have been put forth. Who knows what will occur in the near
future.

Bill

If it is a financial issue, I would be happy to chip in to keep the site
going.

How about putting the pix on a CD? I'd be happy to buy one.
