HI Joe, I have my main halyard led aft via the blocks but have a cabin mounted small winch and a conventional cleat. I find the winch does help if you wish to tension the luff of the main and get the "scallops" removed. I also use the winch when stepping the mast running a safety line from the jib halyard through a block at the bow and aft to the winch/cleat. Perhaps you could mount a cam cleat and a conventional cleat as well?
