this guy had a listing last week for King Kong French 1panel http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3840733855
I email a question about what year the poster was as I have a FR1panel which is the 1975 release http://www.electro-comicsonline.com/gallery/linen/king_kong_fr.jpg
and clearly the poster he showed was not this poster which is the only time that art was used on the french
his response was:
"Hi John here 1933 was year. Sorry about picture it was taken from My records of EBAY not of poster itself. someone is doing my auctions for Me. Color is great+"
well that's when the first red flag stood up.
then I looked at the bidders and saw one of tehm was Dan Stebin, so I called Danny and we spoke about it and we were both looking at the pic when we both realized it was the 1938 US poster that was shown, but froma printed sheet as you can see the printer text at the top
another red flag....
then I noticed the other bidders had never bid on an item like this before..
uh huh uh huh... red flag
so Danny & I came to the conclusion that the auction for the Kong poster was suspicious at best
I emailed him back:
"well the only thing John is this... the poster you show is not the French Grande!!! You are showing an image for the 1938 King Kong american release , also the French poster with a similar design is from 1975 and was not otherwise used in France. The 1933 French has an entirely different art so it's hard to figure if you have the French poster or if ****GASP**** maybe you don't have any poster! if you have the French poster I ask that you send me a picture of it so I can bid if I so choose.. as it stands.. I won't be bidding until I see what I'm supposed to be getting"
no response!!
everyone on MoPo would understand that all of this makes that auction so suspect that I can't think of anyone who would bid on his items thinking there was an up& up on the other end.
My opinion... he is a sham.. also note, that all of his lobby cards are.. FRAMED. how many of you can tyell if it is an original lobby card or not.. uh huh.. that's what I thought
