A very well run and impressive auction. It may be that this and the other
auctions/shows coming up are signalling a resurgance of our hobby from the
doldrums we've been in over the last couple of years.
Cheers!

Subject: [MOPO] Heritage Sell $766,000 In Posters
Hello MOPO;
Heritage sold 649 vintage posters yesterday for a total of $766,000 to
1,026 bidders participating in the sale for 710 lots. 243 of the bidders
were successful. Thank you all very much for making this sale a success. As
you may have already heard, we set the world's record price paid for a
lobby card with the "Bride of Frankenstein" title card which sold for
$46,000. Other very successful lots included $32,200 paid for the "Outlaw"
six sheet, $23,000 paid for the "Phantom of the Opera" insert, $15,812 paid
for the Style C, "Snow White" and $10,350 paid for the "Philadelphia Story"
three sheet. Other highlights included "The Walking Dead" 40" X 60" which
sold for $8,625 and a record of $5,750 paid for a "Beast From 20,000
Fathoms" one sheet, an autographed photo of the Marx Brothers from the set
of "Cocoanuts" which sold for $9,775 and finally, last but not least, a
rolled advance one sheet to "Waiting for Guffman" sold for $632.50.
I was made aware of the problem that occurred with Sue Heim when she
reached me after the first section of the sale. My apologies go to her as
we try very hard to get every interested phone bidder on the phone. I know
she was later called and she bid further with us. Thanks, Sue. It is very
difficult, to say the least to estimate the number of phone bidders that
will participate as the number grew from 20 bidders three days ago to well
over eighty by yesterday morning. We continue to do all we can to improve
the accessibility for our bidders. I will say that approx one third of our
bidders were winners from placing proxy bids on our website and a large
number through Proxbid and eBay.
Thanks again to all.
Most sincerely,
Grey Smith
