So a person who spends 10 dollars on a poster still isn't a
real collector?
Nice!!!! yet another SMACK in the face on this damn
list. It's startting to get annoying some of you uppity ups on here.
A person who loves what they bought with a passion is a collector at
heart..money should not be a god damn matter. I swear some of you need to
get off your high horse and remember how you freaking started. And if the
lord blessed you with a bottomless wallet all the more power to you. It is
YOUR collection...and MY COLLECTION IS MINE....it doesn't matter what is spent
on it.
I am sick of a good chunk of you all ragging on the supposed
"newbie" collectors...that terms pisses me off. I wouldn't of known you
could get posters for older movies if it hadn't been for the current use of
posters with the new movie releases that first caught my eye.
To the man or women who won that item...more power to
them. Perhaps it was that one piece missing from their collection they so
tiredly looked for for years.
Plus to you uppity ups who think money is the deal in this
business....You're not going to get any new blood in this hobby unless you treat
the newcomers with some #*$*&)@ RESPECT!!!!! I have not recommended
anyone to this list for that reason. I could bring in handfuls of people
around my age who love movie posters but I don't want them to get slammed for
collecting the new stuff which just so happens to cost 10 bucks a pop like I get
slammed with on a steady basis on this list.
It's not the newer generation that sucks it's the lame older
generation stuck in their stupid ideas not open to new things.
You know what...all that old paper you collect...one day it's
going to be all gobbled up and you won't be able to get it anymore and you'll
only have the new stuff.
I'd rather not hear from some supposed "real collector" if
they lack passion and a poster is just an investment to them. It's
perfectly good waste of money.
Plus not once have any of you supposed big whigs put together
an auction for a charitable cause that I can remember. It's all to rake in
the dollars for yourselves.
You need to give more. You know just maybe some
teenagers in foster care or a family who is having trouble could use some of
that money from you real collector's posters you have lying around gathering
dust.
Why doesn't Mopo pick a few families around the U.S. who need
help and help them????? I know plenty of you have the money to do so and
the extra posters to sell for charitable causes...and guess what...it's a tax
break.....I myself donate items I don't fit into or is not to my taste to the
Idaho Youth Ranch quite regularly..first I check for my friends and family that
don't have much money then....you'd think giving 100 or more dollars in clothes
to the youth ranch I'd take a receipt to knock money off and get money back and
such but I refuse that ticket everytime. The idea knowing someone will get
this item who needs it more than me is reward enough.
I would easily organize an effort for donations to families
for this group if I could get some help say from JR or such. It's not hard
to find families in need. This isn't just a seasonal thing either..it is
needed all YEAR LONG
Heck I joined in on a family through a scrapbooking website I
found who was giving items to families in need. If women who take pictures
and paper and put them in albums can afford to support 5 families..then I think
a group of 400 plus members who constantly spend thousands on posters could
support 5 or more....or how about a toys for tots thing???
1: Stop cutting down the "newbie's"....we are what you need to
continue business in the future
2. take some of those posters and instead of selling them for
ridiculously high prices sell them and take the money to a charity of
choice. I know the Idaho Salvation Army here in town is having trouble
keeping food stocked...and there are a ton of children in Idaho who won't have
food and warm clothing for the cold winters we tend to get. Make this
lists name known for some positive efforts on everyone's parts.
I am an excellent shopper and find good deals and from what I
can see so far I may be the youngest member perhaps..or close to it....I am
willing to give my time and money to get things for others. Whether you
all want to...is a different story.
