When I was seeing my House of Dracula and House of Frankenstein and Ghoist Of Frankenstein original release lobbies going 197.50, 197.50 and 203.39 respectively and all in nice condition with just the usual 40's marks I had to wonder. So I stuck around and got five more pieces, all for prices that pretty much surprised me.
I DO have to wonder if Bruce did not require registration what the prices would have been like. But I'll tell you, I am one extremely happy camper, because I was thinking Realart re-release and getting mainly original release. Pov"
No offense, but if I had not required registration, I would have had MUCH higher prices, and then I would not have been able to collect from a lot of the "buyers" and then (if I were any other auction house) I would be listing the items a second and third time in future auctions, until someday, they would actually get "sold".
The prices I sold these items for are the prices they go for when they are sold with no "trades", easy credit terms, etc, etc. As Sidney Greenstreet said in The Maltese Falcon, $10,000 of cash is worth $20,000 of talk.
If these prices were so low, then the only logical explanation for why they were "low" was because the "buyers" did not have the ready cash necessary to make them higher. To suggest that people did not buy because they were unwilling to register is really silly. Who are these people? The only horror collectors who did not participate are sleazy people who I have banned from my auctions.
I guess we will see these items re-sold in the near future at "non-registration" auctions for much higher prices.
You horror collectors all say that prices are this or that, but for 15 solid years I have sold some of the best pieces there are, and they almost never sell for the prices you guys quote. That could be because the guys with the "real money" boycott me, or it could be because the "pay cash in ten days" requirement slows down their bidding.
I really can't win! First I read a bunch of posts asking why anyone should ever buy from me since I "always" get double what the same items sell for on eBay, and now I am told that I got the very lowest prices on a bunch of stuff. It can't all be true. If I have so many "bargains",then you serious horror collectors should be lining up to buy from me.
