Here's something I find very alarming, disturbing, and, I'm sorry to say,
not surprising. I think this is a little more serious than the $400 Wizard
of Oz Portal poster sucker sale thread, too.

I was browsing Ebay, and found a seller who had a Dutch "Son of Kong" poster
(at a very high price). But I was curious, so I punched up the seller's
other auctions. The seller (oldpaperville) also had some cool-looking world
war II era patriotic posters. I clicked on one, and then another, and
another, and another. And each time, instead of the item auction, I got
this:

"Dear User:

Unfortunately, access to this particular category or item has been blocked
due to legal restrictions in your home country. Based on our discussions
with concerned government agencies and eBay community members, we have taken
these steps to reduce the chance of inappropriate items being displayed.
Regrettably, in some cases this policy may prevent users from accessing
items that do not violate the law. At this time, we are working on less
restrictive alternatives. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience
this may cause you, and we hope you may find other items of interest on
eBay.

Thank You".

My country: USA. The category: collectibles/militariana/wwII. Their WWI
and non war related stuff seems to come up fine. I'll give you dollars to
donuts this has something to do with the so-called Patriot act, and for some
sick wrong-headed reason, Ebay will not allow Americans to view the auctions
for....PATRIOTIC AMERICAN POSTERS FROM THE GOOD WAR!!!

I'd appreciate if someone else would try this sellers list--I'm going to go
try the category generally, but I'd really like to know what's going on
here. IS it just me, or is this really wrong? (maybe they're only blocking
me.. Maybe I'm on their list. Excuse me, I have to go peek out of the
blinds to check for black helicopters and strange men smoking under
streetlamps with eyeholes in their newspapers. --Tom
