Thanks Ari for the great compliment and review of Tommys film.
Also I would like to thank all those on MOPO and style "B" list that have
taken thier time to comment
on my sons film project that was his "1st FIlm" however "2nd project" as
the 1st was on DV video.
He is shooting Tonight his next mini DV project which is a 1 minute
Trailer" for a 70s-80s type
gangster/ vigilante retro .. he likes the exploitation old trailers of
like " Death wish" and
others.. however with a comedy/parody element. He's been amazed with all
the Eastwood reruns of the spagehtti westerns..the Bronson films etc..
so today one of the shots I was a "stunt driver" driving a truck through
Boxes...he had 3 cameras
aimed at differant aspects.. Unlike his last 16mm film these are on
tripods.. and this will have more of a contempory feel with lighting etc.
instead of the campy loose feel. He shot the Robot film as a sort of
Homage to his
favorite directors that started on humble budgets and gear.( hes shown me
home movies they shot
and that was the feel he wanted) . Like Peter Jackson and Sam Raimi,
He also likes this Guy named "HR Bookwalter" who is from OHIO and Sam
Raimi helped when he wwas 19 by giving him 10,000..
what I think is cool is to watch somone like my son discover cinema. He
just keeps finding new ways to shoot and adapt. When You see a young minds
eye at work its almost a art in itself.
At the same time I relize his views are a summery Of Lucas, Speilberg,
Coppola,Zemeckis, Rodriguiz, Jackson, Raimi, Romero, and the countless
others that have left a impression
on his eyes and ears and mind in his 18 years. What amzes me is that he
like silents and really all genres.. Ive watched ,, singin in the rain,
Grapes of wrath, Battle of the Bulge,to straight story, and Bad
taste..to"what a wonderful life"..
My point is You people in Mopoland and B-list have been a great part of
his learning as I sent
out over 20 dvds and the responce has come from many professionals and
movie buffs from all
areas of Life. The responce has been kind. Considering this was the 1st
film project. The video
will be easier to moniter light and sound as with the film he had to wait
a week to get it back from New York. So after 600.00 in film and process
he worked with what he had.. The film was
supposed to be longer however time and money dictated the final piece.
The next plan is to get him a mini dv/camera and he just start shooting a
feature.. televison spots, documentrys, capture footage and get used to
working with the gear.
Thanks to everyone who participated in seeing Tommys Film.

best, Tom
