The people who are having all the problems with AOL are the ones who DON'T have AOL addresses -- they can't get through to AOL users half the time because of AOL's over-active spam fiters and the way AOL randomly fails to deliver a large number of messages from non-AOL addresses. This argument doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I understand that AOL
users have no problem reaching other AOL users. But if all of the dire
assessments on AOL of the past couple of weeks were true, you would think that
I, as a 10-year AOL user, would have had some trouble at some point receiving
email from users who are NOT AOL customers. I have never had any trouble, not as
an eBay seller or in any other capacity, frankly.
Another thing that is confusing is that Scott said the recent MOPO
distribution problems were cleared up, except as they affected AOL
users. Well, from the minute he said the general MOPO problems were
cleared up, I've started receiving the MOPO messages as normal, even though I am
indeed still an AOL user. I see no continuing problem with AOL users
receiving MOPO messages.
All of the AOL complaints of the past couple of weeks had me concerned and
considering getting a Yahoo address for use on eBay, but my personal experience
with AOL just does not support the idea that I need to get off of AOL.
So, far, I don't get what all the fuss is about.
