Dear JR,
The the contrary, your idea is a great one and many of my customers do just that, store a few posters in the same frame. The thing I might mention about the spring clips is that when you put them behind the foamcore and underneath the back frame lip, you don't have to push them all the way in, just about half way and that way if you want to change out a poster now and again, it is much easier to slide them out since you can see them. The other thing you can do is just put two spring clips in the back of the top leg of the frame to fight gravity and leave them out of the sides and bottom. Many of my customers who live in high humidity areas do this to counteract rippling due to expansion and contraction of the poster. So, hope this info helps.  Take care all.

Subject: [MOPO] In-frame rotation of posters when wall space is tight

Michael,

I think many of us have the same problem. Here's what I started doing when I ran out of wall space:

I have found that with Sue's frames (and probably others), that the little spring clips on the back -- which provide extra tension to keep the backing form board pressed against the poster and the plexi -- can be replaced with something else. If you remove the little spring clips from the frame, that opens up a little bit of extra space between the poster and the backing board.

So, I now "store" 3  or 4 posters in one frame, stacked one on top of the other, with the poster on the top of the stack displaying through the plexi. The extra thickness of the 3 additional posters makes up for most of the tension lost by taking out the spring clips and keeps everything pressed reasonably tight up against the plexi. I've done this for years and have noticed no sagging of the posters in the frame with this approach.

This way, when I've been displaying one poster for a while and want a change, I open the top of the frame, slip out the poster in front which I've been looking at to reveal the "next poster in line" and slip the one I've been looking at to the back of the stack. I pop the top of the frame back on and now I've got a different poster to look at for a while, and the other 3 are safely stored flat behind it in the frame.. This avoids having to have a separate standalone filing system for posters not-currently-on display. It also makes changing my wall displays fairly quick and easy. Sometimes my wife will come home to find to her delight that the display in whole rooms or hallways will have been completely changed!

I really dislike filing posters away in a standalone system -- I tend to forget about them and they sit there for years and years and are never seen. This way, eventually, each poster works its way around to the front of the frame and gets seen for at least a few months once a year or so.

Please note, this approach is very likely NOT authorized by Sue Heim.

Subject: [MOPO] THE PARADINE CASE & running out of room; displaying one style only

i own both styles of THE PARADINE CASE.  (i acquired both within the last year at fair/good values).  only one is framed.  but, for this film, isnt it overkill to display both?   which do you think is the better style????

unlike, THE PARADINE CASE, i do display side-by-side both styles of the half sheets of Claudette Colbert's IMITATION OF LIFE because the artwork is so different.  I, also, have a few  (DOUBLE INDEMNITY, THE POSTAMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, THE HEIRESS.........) where i have both the one sheet and insert displayed because they each have totally different artwork.   I own both the OS and insert of 1935 MAGNIFICENT OBESSION, but the artwork is the same, so only one is displayed right now.

i have reached the point that i have run out of wall space (70 framed/displayed), so new acquisitions are not as exciting to me anymore.  4 months ago, i acquired a long, sought-after REBECCA original, insert.  it is "displayed" in the corner in front of the one sheet of LOVE LETTERS, in its plastic wrapping.......i know i have to do some shifting.

i am not someone who collects things in filing cabinets.  ...............but i have run out of room------
