AND A STORY GOES WITH IT . . .
Milton Glaser is the icon of American graphic design during this century. His artwork has been featured in exhibits aroundthe world, including one-man shows at both the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. As founder Pushpin Studios, he exerted a powerful influence on the direction of world graphic design. Glaser and Clay Felker founded New York magazine, where Glaser was president and design director until 1977.
To my knowledge, this is the only movie poster Glaser ever created.

The story goes that he was coaxed into the design by the producer of the film Tony Ray, the son of another icon, Nicholas Ray. The elder Ray and Glaser had been friends, and when son Tony pervailed upon Glaser to do the campaing for the movie, Glaser agreed.
Offered to MOPO for the first time is this signed poster from the film .
