Merchants would be well advised to really know the protections that credit card customers give them for mail order (telephone) sales. Very little protection. You basically are at the mercy of the honesty and integrity of the card holder. Because when push comes to shove with mail order, the issuing banks will always side with the card holder. The rules and operatives are NOT the same as with a SIGNED card slip. All of the chips rest with the card holder and the merchant has virtually none.
