Hi Guys,

I did just want to make a quick note to you. I did attend a preview of the posters yesterday of the Louis Leithold auction to be held today at Bonham and Butterfields in L.A.  While there is a wonderful collection of titles in the auction, many of them are not in great condition. Many are in fabulous condition. If you are a stickler for condition, I know it's late, but I would certainly have someone you might know who is attending the auction give you a last minute report on the exact conditon of the item you are bidding on. I had a friend I was reporting conditon to on the phone yesterday and he was planning on bidding on six items and after my condition report, he is only bidding on one item.  Many are framed and the plastic that was used for the front is scratched, many frames are scratched or broken apart. Now this framing issue has nothing to do with the poster inside, but if possible I would have the poster shipped to me out of the frame and discard the frame. Most of the frames, as we mentioned the other day, are not of high quality and it would cost you more to shipped framed, plus the risk of further breakage, than buying a whole new frame.  I noticed many of the posters I was planning on bidding on would need to be re-lilnenbacked and restored as the original linenbacking job was very poor, many just linenbacked and no restoration at all (pin holes still in corners, small holes still in poster. So, I did want to alert you all to this in case you are bidding. The one item that did stand out to me as beautiful was the Jezebel window card. The colors are beautiful but upon closer examination I couldn't tell how much overpainting was done. I hope to see all of the L.A. people there. Whatever your situation is good luck.
