It's not even necessary to cancel the bids to change an auction description
-- up until the last 12 hours or so, a seller can always ADD to a description.
The addition will appear at the end of the original description (usually below
the picture). It can be lost down there, so whenever I have to do this with one
of my auctions, I always use some html code to make the text of the
addition or correct to be very BIG AND BOLD so that bidders can't hardly
miss it.

And for the record, sellers can correct a listing after a bid is placed, by cancelling bids, making the correction and re-listing the item.
