I saw KONG last Friday evening.  Liked Naomi Weiss.  She's a cutey.  And got a real kick out of the amused Kong when she was doing her vaudeville act for him.  Can see how the big ape got so excited about her.  Enjoyed Adrian Brody as well.  Jack Black was Jack Black.  I enjoy him sometimes but he really has no range.  He is always a character just on the side of sleazy.  And I don't care if the line "It was Beauty that killed the Beast" was in the original.  Black's delivery was lame and ineffective.  The scenes I enjoyed the most were the Kong versus T-Rex battle (although it went on a tad too long) and the Kong and Beauty bonding scenes.  What will always puzzle me.  Why were they shooting at Kong on top of the ESB when there was a human there?  Don't they care about collateral damage?  And way up there he was really no threat.  Why didn't they just leave him up there?  Would have been great for tourism.  Like some others, I agree that the movie was perhaps at least 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.  The Brontosaurus stampede went on way too long.  Also, the centipede banquet was just a little too gross for my taste (no pun intended).  This is not a movie for kids.   My 2 kronur.   Saul ----- Original Message ----- From: Doug Taylor To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Sent: Monday, December 19, 2005 5:59 PM Subject: Re: [MOPO] KONG redux Well, I loved it.   I am a huge fan of the original.  I always cried like a baby and told my friends it was a love story, not a monster movie.  They thought I was crazy.  Peter Jackson’s version pays such obvious and loving homage to the original that I appreciate it even more.  He truly must love the original and it shows in his film.   I don’t agree with the critics complaining that the first 30 minutes are too slow, but I do believe the film would be better 30-45 minutes shorter.  Just shortening some of the action scenes a little an tightening the film overall would make it “perfect”, IMHO.  I think it would also increase the box office because frankly, it is such an exhausting ride for 3 hours that I think it hurting the multiple viewings.   All in all, I love it.   DBT From: MoPo List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of JR Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 5:06 AM To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Subject: [MOPO] KONG redux   OK, after a year of waiting, I saw Peter Jackson's version of KING KONG the other night... 3 hours never went by so fast.
