Hi all,
For those of you jaded by the holidays and King Kong, you might try to see
Neil Jordan's Breakfast on Pluto. It mines some of the same territory as The
Crying Game, but also brought to mind Velvet Goldmine. It's set in Ireland the
year of Last Tango in Paris and features a lot of romantic Brit pop music from
that era: Van Morrison, Dusty Springfield, Harry Nilsson and wonderful star
turns from Jordan regulars Stephen Rea, Liam Neeson and Brendan Gleason.
Brian Ferry and Ian Hart are in there somewhere too. If a film with
transsexuals,
pop music and IRA bombings is to your taste, then go Breakfast should be your
cup of tea.
Michael, Cinecityposters, taking a day off from moving!
