Just FYI: It so happens an un-plated Oscar turned up on last week's edition
of Antiques Roadshow, brought in by a woman whose dad worked for the Academy
in the 50s. It had never been awarded to anyone, but was thought to be a
rejected piece, due to some flaw in its manufacture. Since it had some
provenance that confirmed it was a real Oscar from AMPAS, I think Rudy
appraised it at about $12,000. (Don't know what you were asking for yours.)
