actually I have seen them many times, but I have never been able to find any for sale

for instance Hollywood Book Store has a whole row of them with posters & lobby cards filed in 12x15 inch file folders, which I have also never been able to find anywhere

My presumption is this file size is no longer made, and therefore you must find someone selling them second hand I'm sure if I was in New York again, I'd be able to find them in a minute because that's one of the few things I miss about the place I grew up in.. you can find anything that you can't find anywhere else. By the way, I also miss the museums, and some restaurants.. like Katz's Delicatessen and Siam Orchid...

Does anyone know if there are any file cabinets out there that will hold 11x14 lobby cards? I am tired of working out of boxes in my office and would prefer to put the cards in a file cabinet just as I do for my photos. Whenever I find cabinets with legal size drawers then they are wide enough the drawers are not toall enough. Any help is appreciated.

Rick - try a specialist office furniture supplier.
I have never found a standard size file cabinet yet that have drawers tall enough to stand 11x14 cards (or folded one sheets) up straight.

If you use stiff acid free board as backing and bag them in acid free bags, then they will go in a standard file cabinet drawer, but at an angle. many such drawers also have the slots in bottom of drawers for you to slip in the metal dividers that allow a good number for documents (or as in your case, lobby cards) tilted at a safe, slight angle so that you don't get "bowing" in them.

Depending on how many cards you have (and there is too many for acid free lobby card size binders as an alternative) then you may want to talk to a cabinet maker to have something made to order size wise.

Kind regards,
Phil

It could be worse - you might collect Mexican cards.JR wrote:

Rick,

This question is completely on-topic, Rick. Hmmm... given that most legal paperwork is done on 11x14 paper, the lawyers must have figured out a solution long ago... check with a specialty supply company that caters to the legal trade... or maybe just ask your friendly neighborhood lawyer where he gets his filing cabinets?
