CORRECTION, re:  my "mock obituary" of Mel Gibson.  The word, "polarizing" presumes about half of "the entertainment industry" is for a person and about half are against.  REVISED:

"Oscar-winning director and actor Mel Gibson, ostracized by Hollywood and the movie-going public for his public and private views against Jews and homosexuals, died today following..."

Well, that's great to hear.  If you'll pardon the following p***-poor double-entendres:  after Chloe Sevigny's star-turn in "Boys Don't Cry," I had great hopes she and her resulting Oscar-nomination would give her career a big "head-start" -- but after "The Brown Bunny" premiered at Cannes, my first thought was, you know, she "blew it," big time.  I'm happy to hear she's "popped back" with "Big Love" on HBO because no one wants to "go down in history" for a single mistake.  The preceding is purposely designed to shatter my image as squeaky clean, always-in-good-taste stodgy misfit in San Diego.

-koose.

P.S. -- No words can adequately describe my feelings for Mel Gibson now.  But don't feel sorry for him or hate him.  Because it's now a 100% certainty that his future obituary will read, "Oscar-winning director and actor Mel Gibson, who polarized the entertainment industry with his public and private views against Jews and homosexuals, died today following..."

Sevigny also turned in a stellar season on the great new HBO drama, "Big Love", so her career seems, if you'll pardon the _expression_, headed in the right direction again.
Didn't see "The Brown Bunny": I heard that Chloe wasn't the only thing that blew in that film. (I admittedly don't care much for Vincent Gallo; a little too self-important.)
