Kirby and Mr. Mazel:
To you both I do want to apologize for using as you
said, Kirby "poor form" in answering your email publicly. You must realize
that I am not the experienced provider of opinion as you and others are who
post a steady flow of emails every day. I have not equipped myself
with the easy knowledge for categorizing content with slick abbreviations in the
Subject block or understanding the intricacies of privatization. I buy and
sell movie posters and other movie collectables. My day is full, seven
days a week, from dawn to dusk in filling orders and finding items. I run a
business and use MOPO as a helpful source in aiding my customers with their
needs. You may or may not remember that you and I had a small bit of
business together not long ago. I thought I was using MOPO for its
intended purpose as a gathering well of informed minds in the field of movie
poster collecting. What I didn't expect to find was the daily bombardment (no
pun intended) of what I am sorry to say, in my opinion, "Hate America"
email. So you don't like our President, okey he isn't running again, vote John
Kerry into office. That is your right as long as enough of your fellow citizens
agree with you. I really don't enjoy taking time away from work to write these
notes, but I became incensed with what appeared to be a group bashing of Ms.
Judith Weaver and her defense of Mel Gibson. There appeared no one, but a
brief applaud by Mr. Episale had anything agreeable to say about her comment The
other letters seem to "use her" as a springboard for short, snide and arrogant
comments about "Washington Stuff". Mr. Mazel, unfortunately your note had
the bad timing of being the email that "broke the camel's back" with your inside
the Beltway remark about Foggy Bottom and Moral Symmetry. Again I
apologize if you took it as a personal attack, it was not meant to be.
What incensed me was no one noticed that Ms Weaver's address at the bottom of
her email read "APO AE". She is either actively in the military or is the family
of military, and in my very humble opinion is due the RESPECT of not having
her subject be made the target of ridicule.

Yes, our way of life does include my right to dissent. Again, your
postscript "Traitors always dress in the language of
Patriots, during the act of Treason" elicits a feeling in me that you think
only someone who thinks like you politically
can love their country. That is bunk. I suspect that you care very deeply
about your country. But I don't sign on
to the idea that any particular political position represents the Gospel
according to Uncle Sam. Not yours, or, in fact, mine or anybody's. And you are
quite right, we have the vote. I certainly intend to use mine.
Furthermore, Dennis, the fact that you responded to a private message to
you to the entire list is poor form.

I disagree with your use of the word "purported" here, as if
Americans who disagreed with our "leadership" are
not authentic Americans. What is inauthentic is, in fact, our leadership.
I don't think at this point people who
dissent are "monday morning quarterbacks." This implies that if you
haven't volunteered to serve in Iraq, you are
somehow disqualified from having an opinion about the sorry state of
things. This reply is made privately.

Foggy Bottom is a reference to the State Department. It
was inside joke. It wasn't an insult. Maybe you shouldn't jump to
conclusions if you don't get the reference.
