I think recent leaks about these two celebrities and their contractual difficulties with studios/production houses indicates that Hollywood is trying to come to grips with overpaid actors who are taking an increasingly bigger part of the pie. It's interesting that both the Lohan and Cruise cases were made so public and show Hollywood "biting the hand that feeds it." In many ways, these two cases remind me of Jack Warner and Bette Davis arguing over her contract. In those times, the stars had much less power and the studios had a tremendous amount of control. Today, the stars have all the power and the studios probably are in positioning to re-assert themselves in the marketplace.
