Tell you what, Michael. Why don't you go first? Then I'll follow.
In my case, I bought two titles at auction that many collectors and dealers
said I overpaid. With one of 'em, it took almost 10 years to be vindicated,
(which BTW, is never the intent of a true collector like me). My defense at
the time (and still holds), is that 99% of my posters represent FILMS I
LOVE. I'm a little different in that I will NOT buy posters (with three
exceptions) for films I can't sit through. This explains the DEARTH of
posters (actually, ZERO) I own that are 1950s sci-fi. "War of the Worlds"
directed by Byron Haskin is the only picture I like from that decade. (But
I don't own anything from it.) I think Forbidden Planet is overrated as a
film, but a boffo poster and watchable only because of a luscious Anne
Francis, who I remember better as the great "Honey West" on TV.
-koose.
