Hi, Everyone,
I received a very nice email from my friend and colleague, Freeman
Fisher, pointing out that this poster was most likely a prop used in the film,
not an alternate poster which had any widespread release. Undoubtedly, I
would assume this adds to its scarcity and value. Until I heard from
Freeman, this never crossed my mind (although it definitely should have, since
I've been in this hobby for so many years). Maybe this explains why the
same poster sold for such a high amount in Christie's Auction a few years ago
(over $600). I want to thank Freeman for his continued insight (one of the
truly helpful people in the hobby). I've included the link below if you
want to take another look at the poster with this new explanation as to the
poster's origin. Thank you again, Freeman. With your knowledge and
humor, I really believe you're one of the true linchpins of the MoPo
community.
