Howdy y'all,
I can identify with several of the 'talking points' in
the movie reviews ... it would appear that Moore is
playing up to Joe Sixpack.
I work in a small town hospital once known as 'Little
Chicago', due to the ability to share an equal amount
of crime and violence as 'Big Windy'. (The hospital
E.D. is the second busiest in the entire state).
I'm not going to pull out any skeletons concerning
health care worker multiple mistakes, absolutely
idiotic decisions, hapless situations, administrative
policy miscues, etc ...
BUT ... I will state that if you have a loved one who
is in the emergency department or admitted in a
hospital setting, you STAY WITH THEM 24/7. If a nurse
states that you need to leave the room for a while,
politely decline. If the ICU has strict visitation
policies, get your doctor to write an order that you
can stay, if the doctor will not ... fire him and find
another doctor who will write the order. If no doctor
is available, ask for the hospital administrator on
call.
