Sotheby's had them years ago and even though at the time they had great pieces,
the auctions became to aggravating to participate in. I believe in one auction
I was involved in lasted an extra 1/2 hour which I finally won (paying way to
much), and another went on for two hours which I finally gave up on. In these
auctions, they only ended if nobody made a bid within the last 5 mins.

This type of an auction may be right for someone who has their butts molded in
their computer chair, but for us that have a life....I don't thing so!

Sniping service allow me to eat diner with my family (not having everyone to
wait) while I wait for an auction to end. It allows me to sleep at night
instead of setting the alarm for an auction. Allows me to go out, allows me to
go to work, allows me to watch a good show, and of course, do something else on
the computer that may be more important, like reading my MOPO emails! :-)

We all know that we can put a high reserve and do all these things, but the
nice thing about a sniping service is that if we end up changing our minds on
the reserve bid we can cancelled before the auction ends. Ebay pretty much
makes that impossible to do.
