There is a suggested limit of 2 posts a day per list subscriber. This is to
prevent those who have size limits (quotas) on their e-mail accounts from
exceeding those limits. Please try to combine your comments into a single
message if at all possible. The 2 posts a day is voluntary, and in some
situations it is permissible to post more than twice. . . The listserv does
have a limit on the number of posts it will even accept from a member's
e-mail address. Once that number has been reached the listserv will reject
the post and send a notice to the subscriber.
My current take on posting limits:
It's nice to keep it to no more than 2 posts a day, especially FS/FA, etc.
But during a lively discussion it is definitely OK to post more than twice.
The listserv will REJECT posts after a member exceeds the daily posting
maximum. I have not publically disclosed that number, however. Let's just
say it is set high enough to allow for ample discussion when the need
arises. Anyone who does reach that limit really needs to get away from their
computer for a while!
In year's past I set the max number of posts per day to "3"--and
subsequently received many complaints from people when the listserv rejected
their posts in the midst of a heated discussion.
So in the future, no complaining when someone goes over 2 posts. Remember,
the 2 *is* just a suggestion. If you really get bugged by a member who
posts "too often?" Either use the delete key or filter that person to your
spam folder.
