Along the same line of Dominique's story, I don't know if any of you remember, but a few years ago, the U.S.P.S. was selling on eBay various items including movie posters. Several of their "auctions" included items that at some point were in a "missing" package mailed to Steve Fishler. We told him about this and he, or course, contacted the U.S.P.S. but not with as much luck as Dominique. I always thought that mailing posters is safe of such "mishaps", because only a true collector will know the real value of contents, but I guess I was wrong. It was a strong tube of 5 feet long. The buyer received a shoe box containing rolls of paper towels .... After 2 proceedings, UPS was forced to pay me 38.000 Euros. Yesterday the 8 posters were sold at Christie's South Kensington (Lots 166, 169, 170, 174, 177, 178, 179 and 180). Being an honest person, I informed UPS of the sale, and they lodged a complaint for stealing against Christies. Today, I've learned who the consignor of these posters was.... And the winner is ..........................U P S Yes, incredible but true, your eyes don't lie. I just spoke with the french police agent who interviewed me, and she told me that the seller is a UPS subsidiary ..... As soon as I can get more info, I'll keep you informed.
