AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON , and HEAVY METAL, and WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM.

Subject: [MOPO] Movies I saw with my Grandmother in the '70s (as a kid in Cedar
Rapids, IA)
To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU

My Grandmother passed-away last Sunday and I couldn't help recall all the cool
movies I got to see with her as a kid. Not looking for sympathy or anything,
just wanting to share with the only folks I know who'ld understand... Didn't
know how to list them, so I grouped them by Theaters in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Lindale PLAZA (awesome theater):
The Biscuit Eater
Grizzly (18 feet of gut-crunching, man-eating terror)
Star Wars (First Showing Opening Day... hardly anyone else there)
Superman
Superman II
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Excalibur
The Muppet Movie
Grease

The WORLD Theater:
The Black Hole
Close Encounters of the Third Kind

The TIMES Theater:
Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo
Bad News Bears Go To Japan (Or was it Breaking Training?)
Goin’ Coconuts
Mother, Juggs and Speed
The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Smokey and the Bandit (with a SENSURROUND trailer for Midway!)
The Jerk

That OTHER Theater downtown… can’t remember its name:
Private Benjamin
The Shining
The Visitor

The TWIN Theater by K-Mart (forgot that name, too):
Heavy Metal
The Cheap Detective
The Amityville Horror
Xanadu

STAGE FOUR Theater:
Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid (Didn’t actually get to see it because they were
on strike and she didn’t want to cross that picket line)
Young Frankenstein
A Wedding
Rocky
Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie
Escape From New York

WESTDALE SIX:
The Changeling
Where The Buffalo Roam
The Blues Brothers
The Empire Strikes Back
The Fog
The Island
An American Werewolf In London
Stir Crazy
Raiders Of the Lost Ark
E.T.

I know there's a lot more, but these were the only ones that I could come up
with at the top of my head... I'm sure there are a few errors, and if anyone
can help with the names of the two theaters, that would be cool. Thanks for
putting up with my therapeutic post. I'd like to think I had a pretty cool
Gramma, otherwise I would never have gotten to see these flicks theatrically.
