Don't have a Blu-Ray player yet......have been toying with the idea of making the plunge. I keep hearing its a kind of stop-gap to the time in the near future when
physical discs will be obsolete and hi-def digital downloads will be THE
way to watch movies. Regardless, I still like having a physical disc (and packaging which more and more is incorporating the film posters). My hesitancy to take the "Blu-Ray plunge" is because my interest is primarily in films up through the 1950's and there are relatively few of those on Blu-Ray at this time (and they keep churning most out only on DVD). However, CASABLANCA is on Blu-Ray and that is tempting (anyone seen it yet in that format?). GONE WITH THE WIND is coming this holiday season.....that might make me take the plunge.

might make me jump in!

Subject: [MOPO] QUO VADIS (1951) on Blu-Ray

Watched this disc last night. Blu-Ray will be a revelation for non-
wide screen
movies as well as the widescreen films. This film, which was standard
aspect
ratio, is spectacularly sharp and colorful. The subject matter may
not be
to everyone's liking, but I'm ready for more old films in Blu-Ray. I
also
recently watched GIGI in Blu-Ray and I can recommend it.
