If you think Dustin Hoffman and Katherine Ross were a little older than college
students, Robert Redford was the first choice to play Benjamin Bradock. He
would have been 31 and the father of two children at the time. Been said he
didn't accept the role because the salary wasn't high enough and it would
seem ridiculous that he would have trouble getting any girl to marry him.
I also heard Doris Day was considered for the part of Mrs. Robinson.
